Increasingly forward-looking businesses are taking responsibility for their social and environmental impact. Universe Technology is no exception.

Universe Technology makes regular donations to the Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund http://www.lennoxccf.org.uk which is committed to providing financial, emotional and practical support to children and their families affected by cancer. Universe also contributes to other children’s causes such as the NSPCC http://www.nspcc.org.uk/ .

All of the company’s waste is recycled via Paper Round http://www.paper-round.co.uk/ and certified as such and this maximises the value of our recycling by keeping paper separate from other materials. Last year £20,000 was donated to environmental charities on the back of such practices. Universe Technology also maintains a company-wide environmental policy in place to reduce emissions and waste.

Old or obsolete computers are supplied to Computeraid International, the world’s largest non-profit supplier of computers to developing countries, and this also ensures data security since all hard drives are wiped using software supplied by the leading data removal specialist (and Ministry of Defence approved) market leaders Blancco ensuring data security even after the PCs leave our secure premises. This also means that we conform to WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) legislation in our disposal of such equipment.
